DescriptionThis is an intaglio print (etching) on paper. This print depicts a river scene. The river is quite wide as only one riverbank is actually shown. On the riverbank is a townscape stretching into the distance. The majority of the buildings in the foreground are two-storey and wooden. Since there are a number of boats lying on the shore in the immediate foreground and some men are working on them, these buildings are probably boat workshops. There is even the end of a boat sticking out of the front of one of the buildings. Further along the riverside there are brick houses with chimneystacks, which appear to be residential. It appears to be an English scene given the name over the building to the right "Surrage & Hartnoll Barage Builders"On View
