DescriptionThis thought-provoking installation resonates a universal concern with changing habitat and cultures, and hybrid breeds that are emerging particularly in birdlife.
Artist's statement: This project was made in response to BLACK BRAIN RADIO which was made before this work, I was exhausted and needed to do something very different after it, so I chose a subject I had an affinity with, bird watching, I birdwatch a lot and have done so since early childhood. The soundtrack for 'Fieldcraft' was made in one recording in the middle of the links at the spit at the end of Rosses Point Co.Sligo, I recorded it on my own on an old mini disc with a basic sony microphone. There are no sound effects used in this work. It is all organic natural sound. I imagined the scenario while sitting there pretending to look through imaginary binoculars and I really enjoyed the experience. The title of the project the work comes from is 'Birds' from a series called 'The Shown Series' edited by Louey Chisholm. The book itself is by M.K.C.Scott and the text is by J.A Henderson. The publishers are 'Thomas Nelson and Sons LTD'
